Our team are always happy to answer any questions you might have about our neurology centers, staff and testing procedures.

  • How close are your offices to where I live?
    We have two locations. One in Hagerstown, MD, and the other in Cumberland, MD. If you live in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Greencastle, Frederick, Williamsport, Martinsburg or Winchester you would come to our Hagerstown location. If you live in Romney, Oakland, Myersdale, Moorefield, or Keyser you would come to our Cumberland office. We are easily located off major interstates. You can get directions on our locations page.
  • What does Dr. Mir do?
    Dr. Mir works closely with referring physician offices to see patients with the conditions listed above. He uses several of the most advanced diagnostic tests in order to accurately diagnose and successfully treat a wide range of neurological conditions. Since we are an out-patient only office, we can typically see our patients quickly.
  • How quickly will I get the test results?
    If you are a patient, you will leave our office with a copy of the test. If you are a referring physician office, we will fax a copy of the test the same day so you can keep a copy in the patient’s files. We believe that this can help speed up the treatment process for the patients by having this type of service.
  • What is a Neurologist?
    A Neurologist is a special type of physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders in the nervous system. This includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Some of the more common conditions that Dr. Mir will diagnose are Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, pinched nerves, back pain, neck pain, tingling, and numbness in the arms, legs, hands, and feet.
  • Does the EMG test hurt?
    We get this question a lot. Each person has a different tolerance to pain. Dr. Mir does his best to limit the pain during the test. The best thing you can do is to breathe slowly and focus on relaxing during the test. Dr. Mir does his best to help you relax. It is possible you will feel some pain during the test. You will be able to resume your regular activities after the test.
  • When should I see Dr. Mir?
    If you are experiencing pain, tingling, weakness and or numbness in your arms, legs, hands, feet, neck or back that is a good sign you may need to come to Mir Neurology and Spine Center. Keep in mind you will need to be referred from your primary care, podiatrist or orthopedic office to schedule an appointment.
  • Why should I use MIR Neurology and Spine Center?
    Since we are an out-patient only office we can typically see patients within 10 days. You may have to wait over a month to see other neurologists for these tests. Dr. Mir is highly respected in the medical community and you can feel confident that you will leave our office with a diagnosis of the condition that you are experiencing. We have two professional offices, one located in Hagerstown, Maryland, and the other in Cumberland, Maryland. Both are located close to major highways and are easy to locate.
  • What is an EMG Test?
    Electrodiagnostic medicine is the study of diseases of nerves and muscles. If your doctor has recommended an EMG test, it is to see if your muscles and nerves are working right. The results of the tests will help your doctor decide what is wrong and how it can be treated.
